SYDNEY GONZALES

 
 

Sydney Gonzales was born on March 18, 2002. Her older sister Lexie is also a gymnast. Sydney trained at National Gymnastics Training Center through the fall 2008 season where she found the love of the sport. She then moved to Gym-Max. She will graduate from high school in 2020.

In the fall of 2008, Sydney competed level four. She finished third all-around and first on bars at the West Sectional meet. She placed fifth all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level five in 2009. She finished first on bars and sixth all-around at the West Sectional meet. She won all five gold medals at the State Championships. In 2010, she finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the West Sectional meet. She finished first on bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. As a level six in 2011, Sydney won all five gold medals at the West Sectional meet. She finished first on bars, first on beam and second all-around at the State Championships.

Sydney competed one level seven meet in 2013. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Team OC Classic. She then moved up to level eight. She won all five gold medals at the San Diego Classic and California Classic. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Chris Waller’a Heart of a Champion Invitational. Sydney won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She placed first on vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Western Regionals in Phoenix.

Sydney moved up to level nine in 2013. She won all five gold medals and 1st place ALL-AROUND at the Team OC Classic and San Diego Classic. She won vault at the Long Beach Open. She missed the rest of the season due to a foot injury.

Sydney finished her level 10 season by placing 14th all-around at Junior Olympic National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.  She had a great experience at the National Elite Qualifier in Texas and learned al lot about herself and what it takes to reach the next level.  Sydney is looking forward to her new national training center in Lake Forest, WILDFIRE.
